Swedish Gripen fighters supported Polish air-defense operations during Russia's overnight missile and drone attacks on Ukraine on October 6–7, AeroTime reported, citing Poland's operational command. The command said the aviation operation had ended and that it had recorded no violation of Polish airspace. It did not announce a Swedish shootdown.
Sweden had previously outlined an October deployment supporting NATO's integrated air and missile defense in Poland, with aircraft primarily based in Sweden and a smaller forward presence in Poland. Tasks include protecting the logistics hub supporting Ukraine. A separate Swedish Patriot deployment of around one hundred personnel is planned from December into the first half of 2027.
