Airbus announced on October 7 that Romania has signed for twelve H225M multirole military helicopters through France's DGA procurement agency under the EU SAFE financing framework. The helicopters will begin replacing the Romanian Air Force's locally built IAR-330 Puma fleet for conventional and special operations. Delivery has not been announced.

Airbus says the selection will also support Romanian industry through its longstanding partnership with IAR. The agreement follows separate SAFE orders for seven H160 and five H145 public-service helicopters. The manufacturer reports more than 350 H225 and H225M helicopters in service collectively, with over one million flight hours. That combined total should not be presented as the military H225M fleet alone.
