Emirates is considering converting its thirty-five-aircraft Dreamliner commitment into additional 777X aircraft, Simple Flying reports. Operating executive Adel Al Redha said conversion remains an option alongside accepting 787 deliveries under a revised Boeing schedule. The comments describe an assessment, not a completed cancellation or a new firm order.
The airline's Dreamliner plans have changed since its initial 2017 commitment, subsequent 2019 contract and 2023 revision. Backlog figures differ within the report, so they cannot reliably establish a complete current delivery total. Delivery delays, cabin requirements and future fleet needs are part of the discussion. Final aircraft types and quantities require a definitive announcement by the airline and manufacturer.
