American Airlines announced on October 8 that its Starlink plan will cover every mainline jet, including Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies and Boeing widebodies, totaling more than one thousand aircraft. Installations are scheduled to begin in early 2027. The announcement is a future fleet commitment, not confirmation that all aircraft already provide the service.

The expansion builds on an earlier plan for more than five hundred Airbus jets. American cites the Performance Aero Terminal's capability of up to one gigabit per second, which is not a guaranteed speed for each passenger. Mainline coverage is also distinct from regional partners. Availability on an individual flight depends on the subsequent installation schedule.
