GE Aerospace has qualified NYCO's TURBONYCOIL® 600 turbine oil for its GEnx-1B engines, mounted on Boeing 787 aircraft. The qualification marks the culmination of several years of close collaboration with Air France, which conducted an in-flight evaluation campaign of TURBONYCOIL® 600 across multiple engines over a period of more than 36 months.
Oil analyses performed throughout the evaluation campaign demonstrated the thermal stability of TURBONYCOIL® 600 and the performance of its antioxidant and anti-wear additive package. Following nearly 7,000 flight hours, engine teardowns and inspections confirmed effective wear protection of lubricated components and low levels of coke deposition. These results led GE Aerospace to qualify TURBONYCOIL® 600 for use in the GEnx-1B engine.
“The qualification of TURBONYCOIL® 600 for the GEnx-1B engines is an important step in NYCO’s expansion in the civil aviation sector. Building on 40 years of in-service experience and thanks to a continuous partnership with Air France, TURBONYCOIL® 600 once again demonstrates its high standards of quality and performance.” Paul Gallais, Business Development & Marketing Director, NYCO, said the qualification was an important step in NYCO’s civil aviation expansion.
