JetZero announced on October 28, 2026, that it has been selected to receive $5.3 million under Phase IV of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Continuous Lower Energy, Emissions and Noise (CLEEN) program. The funding will support engine and nacelle instrumentation on Jet1, the full-scale blended-wing-body demonstrator aircraft currently under construction in Long Beach, California, ahead of its scheduled first flight in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The instrumentation will measure and record airflow at the engine inlet and fan exit during takeoff, climb, cruise, and crosswind ground operations. Jet1 is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW2040 engines mounted on top of the airframe to reduce community noise around airports. The FAA launched CLEEN Phase IV in September 2026, awarding two-year agreements to companies including Boeing, GE Aerospace, Honeywell Aerospace, Heart Aerospace, and JetZero.
