China Airlines said its CI840 flight from Bangkok to Kaohsiung was moved to the following day after damage to the runway at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (KHH) affected aircraft operations. The airline said Kaohsiung Airport’s curfew was also taken into account. A large depression was suspected on the runway as the flight prepared to take off. China Airlines said the aircraft was inspected and found safe, and that it arranged meals, accommodation and transport for passengers before departure.

Separately, China Airlines said CI160 from Taoyuan to Seoul Incheon was scheduled to depart at 7:50 a.m. but was delayed by several hours. The airline said an abnormal maintenance signal prompted checks under standard operating procedures to ensure flight safety.
