Taiwan's Global UAV Academy to Train Pacific Ally Pilots by Year-End

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on September 15 that the privately funded Global UAV Academy will complete non-governmental foundation registration next week. The institution plans to establish physical offices in Taipei and Chiayi by the end of this year to assist diplomatic allies in building unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities.

According to an Executive Yuan report, the academy's initial stage focuses on drone pilot training. The foreign ministry stated that the initiative will begin with Pacific allies, following memorandums of understanding signed with Palau, the Marshall Islands, and Tuvalu during the Pacific Islands Forum summit.

The first batch of trainees from Palau, the Marshall Islands, and Tuvalu is expected to begin training in Taiwan as early as late this year or early next year. The program plans to accommodate up to 30 trainees simultaneously in Taiwan.
