EVA Air transported a male bongo antelope named Harris to Taiwan. Harris departed Dallas Airport aboard a cargo aircraft on Oct. 26 U.S. time and arrived at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at 10:26 p.m. Taiwan time on Oct. 27. EVA Air said the flight took about 18 hours, with the Houston Zoo's deputy director and an animal-care staff member accompanying and caring for him.
Taipei City Zoo said its bongo population consists of five females and that it hopes Harris will serve as breeding stock to help produce offspring and stabilize the group. The zoo expects to put him on public display after he passes a month of quarantine.
