Boeing subsidiary Spirit Defense announced on October 23, 2026 that it will serve as a fuselage design‑build partner for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems’ FQ‑42 Vengeance, providing engineering and manufacturing from design through production.
GA‑ASI received its initial FQ‑42A production contract on June 17, 2026, and the US Air Force confirmed in September 2026 that the first increment covers 150 aircraft across the two CCA types.
As of September 2026 GA‑ASI said it could deliver six FQ‑42s per month, with additional manufacturing space available for larger orders.
Spirit Defense was created after Boeing’s acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems on December 8, 2025 and operates as a non‑integrated subsidiary of Boeing Defense, Space & Security; Boeing had been among five firms chosen for CCA concepts but was not selected for the production‑representative test phase in April 2024.
