Poland’s Government Center for Security (RCB) issued an air attack alert for Lublin and Subcarpathian voivodeships on September 17, 2026, as a Russian jet-powered drone approached the Polish border. In response, Poland’s Armed Forces Operational Command (DORSZ) scrambled fighter aircraft and placed ground-based air defense systems on readiness.
To grant military aviation freedom of action, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) temporarily suspended flight operations at Lublin Airport (LUZ) and Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport (RZE). Military officials stated that the drone crashed 3 to 4 kilometers inside Ukraine, with no violation of Polish airspace recorded, and the alert was officially lifted at 12:48 local time.
