The US Air Force has issued a notice to award a sole-source contract to Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) to provide support for three A-29 Super Tucano aircraft currently placed in storage. The three fully sealed aircraft are held at Edwards Air Force Base and are not expected to return to flight operations for the service.
Under the agreement, SNC will oversee the safe storage, environmental compliance, and ground movement of the aircraft within the installation. The move marks the end of the type's service after the Air Force previously transferred the aircraft in 2024 to the Air Force Test Pilot School for flight-test training, spin testing, and sensors and weapons research.
