Boeing is closing in on a new aircraft order for 787 widebody jets from Malaysia Airlines, according to a report from Simple Flying. The prospective purchase of Boeing 787 widebody aircraft is intended to replace the Airbus A350 fleet that the Malaysian carrier currently operates through lease agreements.
Malaysia Airlines has not operated a Boeing widebody aircraft for almost ten years following the retirement of its former Boeing 777-200ER fleet. The potential deal would see Boeing widebody passenger aircraft return to the carrier's international fleet after a nearly decade-long absence from its operations.
