GE Aerospace has stated that issues with the GE9X engine's mid-seal are not expected to delay the entry into service of the Boeing 777X. According to the company's chief financial officer, a redesigned mid-seal component should keep Boeing's long-delayed 777X aircraft program on track for its targeted service entry in 2027.
The Boeing 777X aircraft family is exclusively powered by next-generation GE9X turbofan engines. The 777X certification program previously received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to begin certification flight testing under Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) 4B, with first deliveries expected to take place in 2027.
