According to a report published by Simple Flying, cabin crew members aboard a Virgin Australia flight were placed on high alert for most of a 14-hour long-haul journey. The security situation developed after two male passengers claimed to be in possession of a gun during the flight.

While in transit, the two men engaged in aggressive physical behavior directed at cabin crew personnel, which involved headbutting and spitting on flight attendants.

The flight crew maintained heightened security vigilance across the multi-hour trip until the aircraft landed, at which point both male passengers were restrained upon landing.
