A Thai Airways Boeing 787-9, registration HS-TWA, was operating flight TG-663 from Shanghai Pudong to Bangkok when the crew stopped the climb at 2,700 metres (9,000 feet) after a windshield cracked. The aircraft had departed from Pudong's runway 17L and, after dumping fuel, returned to the airport for a safe landing on runway 16R about 80 minutes after departure.
The aircraft was still on the ground about 13 hours after landing, according to The Aviation Herald's report on the incident. No injuries or further damage were reported in the account, which describes the return as a precautionary response to the cracked windshield during climb.
