According to Simple Flying, the GE9X engine is scheduled to launch on the Boeing 777X aircraft in 2027. The engine, featuring a 134-inch fan, faces unique operational and design challenges that are unprecedented for other jet engines.
Verified records show that the Boeing 777X will be exclusively powered by these next-generation GE9X turbofans. GE Aerospace previously addressed mid-seal issues on the engine, with its CFO stating the issues are not expected to delay the 777X's entry into service.
The manufacturer stated that the redesigned GE9X mid-seal should keep the long-delayed aircraft on track for its 2027 debut. The 777X program has already received FAA approval to begin certification flight testing.
