All Nippon Airways (ANA) officially unveiled its newest special livery aircraft, the "Green Pokémon Jet," on September 18, 2026. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 registered as JA923A, made its public debut following a welcoming ceremony at Tokyo's Haneda International Airport (HND). Later that evening, the widebody jet departed on its inaugural commercial passenger service, flight NH186, bound for Honolulu (HNL), Hawaii, marking the launch of its international flight program.
According to flight details, NH186 departed Tokyo Haneda at 9:55 p.m. local time on September 18 and arrived in Honolulu just before 2:00 p.m. local time. The Boeing 787-9 is the second aircraft in a three-livery Pokémon series and features a predominant green design centered on Grass-type Pokémon characters. ANA has extended the special theme into the cabin, equipping seats in Premium Economy and Economy with branded headrest covers, serving beverages in themed cups with custom napkins, playing themed background music, and distributing commemorative stickers to passengers.
ANA confirmed that the Green Pokémon Jet will be assigned across its international long-haul network until at least March 2027. Scheduled operations from Tokyo Haneda (HND) include routes to Honolulu (HNL), Seattle (SEA), Vancouver (YVR), Sydney (SYD), Manila (MNL), Singapore (SIN), Delhi (DEL), Bangkok (BKK), Jakarta (CGK), and Kuala Lumpur (KUL). From Tokyo Narita (NRT), the aircraft is planned to serve Perth (PER), Singapore (SIN), Bangkok (BKK), Jakarta (CGK), and Mumbai (BOM).
The special livery project marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership between All Nippon Airways and The Pokémon Company, representing the 13th ANA aircraft to receive a Pokémon livery since 1998. The current generation consists of three distinct jets: the Boeing 787-8 "Red Pokémon Jet" (JA819A), which entered service on Japanese domestic routes on July 29, 2026; the international Boeing 787-9 "Green Pokémon Jet"; and the upcoming Boeing 737-800 "Blue Pokémon Jet" (JA56AN), which is scheduled for unveiling toward the end of 2026 for domestic flights.
In addition to inflight experiences, ANA is conducting ground-based promotional activities by introducing in-game PokéStops and Gyms for Pokémon GO players at 14 airports across Japan. Participating locations include Kochi (KCZ), Matsuyama (MYJ), Takamatsu (TAK), Tokushima (TKS), Fukuoka (FUK), Saga (HSG), Miyazaki (KMI), Kumamoto (KMJ), Kagoshima (KOJ), Nagasaki (NGS), Oita (OIT), Ishigaki (ISG), Miyako (MMY), and Naha (OKA), allowing passengers and visitors to take part in localized challenges.
