Malaysia Airlines is close to ordering its first Boeing 787 Dreamliners as it looks to replace seven leased Airbus A350s, according to Bloomberg.
On September 18, 2026, Bloomberg reported that the airline's parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group, was weighing an order for 10 Boeing 787-10s, the largest Dreamliner.
The report said Boeing got ahead of Airbus by promising earlier delivery slots beginning in 2031.
Group CEO Captain Nasaruddin Bakar told The Edge in August that while there are seven A350s today, the group is looking at growth as well, so there could be more than seven replacements.
Aircraft under consideration were noted as including the A350-1000, Boeing 787-9, 787-10, and the upcoming 777X.
