According to a report by Simple Flying, Boeing has quietly dismantled a brand-new 777-9 aircraft after deciding that the required rework costs exceeded the overall value of the jet. To date, no finished 777X aircraft have been delivered to commercial customers.

Regarding overall program status, the Boeing 777-9 test fleet has accumulated 4,800 flight test hours, while both the 777-9 and 737 MAX 10 are nearing the final steps of certification. Boeing previously received Federal Aviation Administration approval to begin certification flight testing under Type Inspection Authorization 4B, with first delivery currently anticipated in 2027.
