Executive Yuan spokesperson Li Hui-zhi stated on September 10, 2026, that Taiwan's Cabinet is in the final stage of reviewing the passed Act for Strengthening Defense Autonomy and Unmanned Vehicle Industry Development. The Cabinet is expected to finalize its decision on whether to countersign the act by September 11 and announce the outcome accordingly.

The Legislative Yuan did not pass the Cabinet's proposed draft act for defense drone procurement, but instead passed the opposition's version of the unmanned vehicle industry development act, making the Cabinet's decision on countersigning a key focus.

In addition, the Cabinet approved a supplementary budget proposal for fiscal year 2026 on September 3, 2026, allocating TWD 145.7 billion for national defense, which includes items such as coastal surveillance drones.
