STARLUX Airlines has completed the delivery of 'STARLUX AIRSORAYAMA GOLD,' created in collaboration with Japanese contemporary artist Hajime Sorayama. Registered B-58554, the Airbus A350-1000 officially completed delivery procedures on August 14 local time in France and departed Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) for Taiwan at 12:27 PM on August 15. It is scheduled to arrive at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at 9:28 AM Taipei time on August 16.
B-58554 is the second specially-liveried A350-1000 in STARLUX Airlines' 'STARLUX AIRSORAYAMA' art project, featuring gold as its primary visual element to form a gold-and-silver dual-aircraft concept paired with the previously delivered 'AIRSORAYAMA SILVER' (B-58553). STARLUX Airlines unveiled this collaboration project in January 2026, with both aircraft centered on the signature metallic texture from Hajime Sorayama's long-standing artistic oeuvre, extending his visual language onto the fuselages of large commercial passenger aircraft.
To achieve a liquid-metal-like reflective effect on the composite airframe, the livery does not merely rely on traditional gold or silver paints. STARLUX Airlines stated that the project collaborated with Airbus and aviation coatings specialist Mankiewicz to develop a process using high-concentration special mica and multi-layer application techniques, presenting the metallic luster and visual depth characteristic of Sorayama's artwork while strictly complying with commercial aircraft painting and flight safety requirements.
The first to be delivered, 'AIRSORAYAMA SILVER' B-58553, arrived at Taoyuan on July 5 and entered revenue passenger service on July 12, operating the route between Taipei and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT). The return of 'AIRSORAYAMA GOLD' to Taiwan signifies that the two gold and silver art aircraft planned under the AIRSORAYAMA project will officially reunite in Taiwan.
Both AIRSORAYAMA aircraft utilize the A350-1000. This model is the larger long-range widebody passenger aircraft variant in the Airbus A350 family, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines; STARLUX Airlines positions the A350-1000 as the flagship aircraft for its long-haul routes. According to the AIRSORAYAMA cabin configuration released by STARLUX Airlines, each aircraft features a total of 350 seats, configured with 4 First Class seats, 40 Business Class seats, 36 Premium Economy seats, and 270 Economy Class seats.
STARLUX Airlines took delivery of its first A350-1000 in January 2026, becoming the 11th airline globally to operate this model; Airbus stated at the time that STARLUX Airlines ordered a total of 18 A350-1000s as a core fleet element to expand capacity on routes to Europe, North America, and other long-haul destinations. With B-58554 completing delivery and returning to Taiwan, the AIRSORAYAMA gold and silver dual-aircraft fleet enters its full assembly stage.
According to current flight schedules, B-58554 is expected to arrive at Taoyuan International Airport at 9:28 AM on August 16; actual arrival times remain subject to operational flight factors such as routing, air traffic control, and weather conditions.
