Air passenger rights company AirAdvisor has published research identifying the most stressful US domestic flight routes for nervous flyers, using its Nervous Flyer Index.
Among the 24 busiest US domestic routes compared, the route from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) Airport ranked as the most stressful, scoring 75.8 out of 100.
AirAdvisor CEO Anton Radchenko said: "A high score does not mean a route is unsafe. It means passengers are more likely to encounter the things that make flying stressful, such as delays, cancellations, difficult weather, and spending longer time in the air."
The index's findings include a 10.49% cancellation rate for flights on the New York LaGuardia to Chicago O'Hare route between September 2025 and August 2026, compared with a 3.47% average across all routes studied.
