Kuomintang lawmaker Zhang Hao raised a question during Thursday's general interpellation session, telling of a family asked to leave an HSR carriage because their child had made noise, and asking whether the government plans dedicated family carriages.
Transport Minister Chen Shih-kai responded that he has discussed the matter with Taiwan HSR, but that carriages are crowded and there are questions over children moving to other carriages.
He said it is a direction worth trialing, and once new HSR trains come online with spare space, a trial would be conducted. Premier Cho Jung-tai said feasibility could be assessed for specific carriages on off-peak trains if there is spare space.
