The first Airbus A350-1000 scheduled for delivery to Lufthansa completed its maiden test flight from Toulouse, France, on October 5, 2026. The aircraft already wears Lufthansa's centenary livery and currently carries the Airbus test registration F-WZNY. After delivery, it will be registered D-AIFA and named 'Deutschland.'
The aircraft departed Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) and flew toward the Bay of Biscay for testing before returning to Toulouse about three and a half hours later. The flight formed part of the pre-delivery test program, and the aircraft has not yet entered scheduled Lufthansa service.
The fuselage is finished primarily in dark blue with a large white crane logo as well as '1926 | 2026' and '100' markings. Lufthansa revealed the design in July, and this aircraft is the seventh in the airline's centenary special-livery program.
Lufthansa has ordered 15 A350-1000s, with deliveries planned through 2030. The long-haul widebody is 73.8 meters long, around seven meters longer than the A350-900. Lufthansa plans a 300-seat configuration with first class, business class, premium economy and economy. When delivered, the first A350-1000 will also become the 700th Airbus aircraft delivered to the Lufthansa Group.
