Heavy rain in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, has disrupted local public transportation to Tokyo Narita Airport, preventing some passengers from reaching the airport on time. In response to the ground transit disruptions, Tigerair Taiwan issued an official announcement on August 14, 2026, outlining flexible ticketing measures, including free flight modifications and refunds to credit accounts for affected travelers.
The flexible measures apply to passengers booked on three specific routes operated by Tigerair Taiwan: flight IT701 from Tokyo Narita to Taoyuan on August 13, as well as flight IT201 from Tokyo Narita to Taoyuan and flight IT281 from Tokyo Narita to Kaohsiung on August 14. For passengers who missed these flights (no-show) after the aircraft had departed normally due to transit delays, assistance is available at the airline's Narita Airport counter to adjust their flights free of charge to alternative flights within seven days, subject to seat availability.
Passengers may also contact the Tigerair Taiwan customer service center prior to 9:00 p.m. on August 16, 2026. Customer service staff will assist in rebooking free of charge on open flights within seven days or issue a refund to a credit account as a voucher under force majeure provisions for future travel. Travelers who purchased tickets through travel agencies or third-party booking platforms are instructed to contact their original ticketing platform to process modifications or refunds.
Regarding wider operational impacts from the Chiba rainstorm, Starlux Airlines stated that its no-show passenger volume was slightly higher than usual, though all flight schedules remain unchanged. China Airlines reported normal operations across its flights, while EVA Air noted that only a single passenger failed to show up for an earlier flight operating from Narita to Kaohsiung.
