According to newly released passenger satisfaction data, both United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic have achieved significantly higher customer approval scores after introducing SpaceX's Starlink inflight WiFi service across their commercial fleets. Industry analysis and customer feedback indicate that high-speed, low-latency connectivity delivered by low Earth orbit satellite networks is reshaping inflight communications and becoming a decisive factor in driving passenger loyalty and overall satisfaction.

United Airlines officially reported in its second-quarter 2026 operational results that flights equipped with Starlink achieved a WiFi customer satisfaction score more than twice as high as aircraft operating with the airline's other legacy WiFi systems. United further disclosed that it had successfully installed Starlink equipment on more than 450 mainline and United Express aircraft by mid-July, with plans to expand the installation to nearly 1,000 equipped aircraft by the end of 2026.

Virgin Atlantic has also accelerated its fleet-wide Starlink technology rollout schedule. The British long-haul carrier completed the installation of Starlink connectivity systems across its entire fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft by the end of May, achieving full fleet implementation five months ahead of its initial schedule. Virgin Atlantic officially introduced its first Starlink-equipped Airbus A350 passenger service in May on flight VS153 operating from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to New York JFK Airport (JFK).

Following the completion of its Airbus A350 fleet retrofits, Virgin Atlantic now plans to extend Starlink satellite WiFi services to its Boeing 787 and Airbus A330neo aircraft fleets, aiming to achieve full fleet coverage by 2027. Airline executives noted that the deployment of low Earth orbit satellite connectivity allows passengers to stream content and perform high-bandwidth online tasks that previous generations of satellite networks struggled to sustain.
