Taiwan's Second Operational Zone stated that the cross-sea island defense exercise utilized live troops, locations, and equipment to verify offshore island reinforcement capabilities. Upon arrival at tactical positions, troops constructed defense fortifications and operated drones for tactical reconnaissance drills.
A military source said the drill scenario involved preventing opposing forces from seizing the offshore islands as forward bases for helicopter and drone operations or breaking through the first island chain.
