Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport resumed operations on October 25 after a two-week closure caused by Houthi attacks, only to come under attack again on its first day back in service. According to AFP, three explosions were heard in Riyadh in the early hours of the day, and residents received a safety alert warning of a hostile air threat.

The Saudi military said it shot down one ballistic missile and two drones fired by the Houthis toward Riyadh. The airport operator had announced the day before on X that, starting Sunday, October 25, Terminal 1 would serve domestic flights while Terminal 2 would be dedicated to international flights operated by Saudi carriers.

Whether flights have truly returned to normal remains unclear: according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24, about 60% of passenger aircraft scheduled to arrive at or depart from the airport on the morning of October 25 were cancelled. The Houthis said in a statement the same day that they would continue operations targeting the airport and warned passengers, staff and airlines not to use it.
