Qantas has pushed back the return of its nonstop Perth-London flight service until February 2027, extending an intermediate Singapore refuelling stop on the ultra-long-haul route for another three months. The change applies specifically to westbound QF9 services operating between 25 October 2026 and 31 January 2027, with passengers travelling from Perth to London Heathrow (LHR) continuing to route through Singapore.
The airline confirmed that the eastbound London-Perth flight service will remain nonstop throughout the entire period. In contrast, westbound passenger flights will continue to include the intermediate technical stopover in Singapore throughout this schedule adjustment window.
Qantas will separately alter its Sydney-Paris flight service over the exact same period. From 25 October 2026 until 31 January 2027, the service will operate via Singapore rather than Perth, while the return Paris-Sydney flight service will remain completely unchanged during these network adjustments.
The airline is also making several network adjustments across its international and domestic routes in connection with the introduction of its incoming Airbus A321XLR fleet. The carrier will continue operating its Brisbane-Manila service with the Airbus A330 until 31 January 2027, before introducing the A321XLR on the route from 1 February. From 25 October, Qantas will also add more A321XLR-operated flights on key domestic routes linking Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Separately, the Qantas Group and Melbourne Airport have agreed on key commercial terms for major airport infrastructure developments. The agreement clears the way for additional flights, upgraded international lounges, improved passenger check-in procedures, and the delivery of Melbourne Airport's third runway project.
