Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on August 4, 2026, that it is expanding its European flight network through increased service frequencies to multiple key cities and the launch of a new route to Madrid, Spain. The airline noted that the network expansion responds to growing passenger demand for air travel to Europe connecting through its hub at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN).
Effective October 26, 2026, Singapore Airlines will launch a five-times-weekly service between Singapore and Madrid, operated via Barcelona, Spain. This new route makes Madrid the carrier's 15th European destination and its second destination in Spain. The airline will operate its long-haul variant Airbus A350-900 aircraft (ICAO type code A359), configured in a 253-seat layout, on the Singapore-Barcelona-Madrid service.
As part of the expansion in the United Kingdom, flights to Manchester will increase from five times weekly to daily. At London Gatwick Airport (LGW) (LHR) , SIA will step up its second daily tranche to full daily operations during the Northern winter 2026 operating season, complementing existing daily flights SQ312 and SQ309. Together with four daily flights to London Heathrow Airport , SIA's total London capacity will reach up to six daily flights.
On continental European routes, flights to Milan, Italy, will increase from four weekly services to daily operations starting October 25, 2026. The following day, on October 26, 2026, SIA will introduce a new three-times-weekly service to Munich, Germany, boosting its overall weekly operations to Munich to 10 flights.
Singapore Airlines Philippines General Manager Liwei Tai stated that Europe remains a popular destination for travelers and that these network enhancements reflect efforts to meet travel demand with expanded choice and connectivity. The additional services will provide travelers from the Asia-Pacific region with more convenient flight options to connect to Europe via Singapore.
