Airchair has introduced a free online assessment tool to help airlines evaluate whether upcoming US Department of Transportation (DOT) onboard wheelchair requirements apply to their fleet operations. The compliance tool guides air carriers through questions regarding aircraft types, route networks, and existing equipment to determine necessary operational steps ahead of new accessibility mandates.

Under federal regulations 14 CFR 382.65, newly delivered single-aisle aircraft with an FAA-certified maximum seating capacity of at least 125 seats equipped with lavatories must feature enhanced onboard wheelchairs starting October 2, 2026. Furthermore, by October 2, 2031, all passenger aircraft with more than 60 seats must maintain onboard wheelchairs that comply with the updated DOT accessibility standards.
