The military's Han Kuang 42 live-fire exercise, running from August 5 to 14, has entered the "deep defense and sustained operations" phase. According to Military News Agency reports, the Second Operational Zone and the Coast Guard Administration conducted drills at Hualien Port covering key port defense, joint anti-blockade escort, and strategic materiel transfer, with the Navy vessel Yushan for the first time escorting cargo ships into Hualien and Suao ports alongside two Coast Guard vessels and two patrol boats.

The Military News Agency reported that yesterday the Second Operational Zone had the Navy and Coast Guard jointly execute the "joint anti-blockade escort" course, escorting cargo ships carrying critical supplies into port. Today, troops simulated enemy infiltrators attempting to disrupt materiel transfer, with defense forces rapidly conducting key port defense to secure the port area and ensure smooth transfer operations.

After confirming port security, personnel conducted a "strategic materiel transfer" drill at Hualien Port, simulating wartime delivery of overseas supplies, combining port loading and unloading with requisitioned civilian flatbed trailers to complete materiel receipt, loading, and transfer, validating civilian resource integration and logistics support capabilities.

The Coast Guard Administration stated in a press release that it executed the core "joint anti-blockade escort" mission yesterday, with Coast Guard vessels Taichung and Bali, two 100-ton patrol boats, and Navy vessels successfully escorting a cargo ship carrying critical supplies (simulated by the Yushan) into Hualien Port in eastern Taiwan training waters.

The Coast Guard Administration emphasized that this was the first time it collaborated with the Navy in a live-force drill to execute the maritime "joint anti-blockade escort" mission, demonstrating Taiwan's resolve to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the region.

The Second Operational Zone noted that the Han Kuang exercise validated strategic materiel receipt and unloading procedures, integrated military-civilian transport resources, and strengthened cross-service coordination and logistics support effectiveness to ensure wartime supplies can be rapidly delivered to designated areas, sustaining operational capability and reinforcing cross-area support resilience.
