Lufthansa Group officially confirmed on August 10, 2026, that it is rolling out Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi internet across all of its partner airlines over the next three years. Work on the installation of the low-Earth orbit satellite technology has already commenced, with a Lufthansa A320neo selected as the first aircraft scheduled to enter service equipped with the high-speed connectivity on August 19, 2026.
Under the terms confirmed by the airline group, the onboard Starlink connectivity will be available free of charge to Miles & More loyalty members and Travel ID users. However, passengers using the high-speed internet on flights must strictly comply with cabin usage rules. Users are required to wear headphones when playing audio and video content. To respect the preferences of surveyed passengers, users must also refrain from making voice or video calls and broadcasting live streams from the aircraft.
The multi-year fleet rollout will extend connectivity across aircraft operated by group members, including SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines, and Eurowings. Lufthansa Group aims to equip its entire active fleet of approximately 850 aircraft with Starlink hardware by 2029, positioning itself as the largest airline group in Europe to implement the technology across its operations.
Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Group, highlighted that high-speed internet is becoming an essential component of the premium passenger experience across all travel classes and member airlines. The group confirmed that its onboard Wi-Fi portal will continue to be sponsored by Mastercard, which previously partnered with the airline on its legacy FlyNet platform.
