Taiwan's Armed Forces conducted key port defense exercises at Taipei Port on August 6, 2026, marking the second day of the 10-day, 9-night Han Kuang 42 live-troop exercise running from August 5 to 14. The drill aimed to strengthen critical infrastructure defense and gain time for depth defense operations.

As part of the channel blockage exercise at Taipei Port, the military mobilized one 800-ton cargo ship and 16 fishing vessels through reserve recruitment. The drill also utilized one floating pontoon platform, 28 containers, 80 jumbo bags, and 150 two-ton concrete blocks for port logistics integration and outer road obstacle deployment.

Additionally, reserve auxiliary centers in Yilan County cooperated with the Lanyang Regional Command to execute beach obstacle operations on coastal roads. The Ministry of National Defense stated that these measures, including anti-denial and channel obstruction maneuvers, are designed to delay enemy advances and buy time for troop maneuvering.
