Swiss semi-private aviation startup PeakJet has announced the completion of its first commercial flight between Zürich (ZRH) and Palma de Mallorca (PMI) on August 1, 2026. The milestone flight marks the official operational debut for the Swiss-based aviation startup.

The inaugural flight was operated using an Embraer Legacy 650 executive jet capable of carrying up to 12 passengers. Operational management of the flight was handled by the German subsidiary of business aviation operator VistaJet.

PeakJet operates on a business model similar to US operators such as JSX and Aero, offering scheduled executive aviation experiences at significantly lower price points than standard business jet charters. However, neither PeakJet nor its parent company, Peak Plus AG, holds an air operator certificate (AOC). Instead, the company defines itself as a marketplace that aggregates and sells capacity on executive aircraft operating fixed schedules.

Following the launch of the Mallorca route, PeakJet expects to open new direct flights connecting Zurich with Nice-Côte d’Azur (NCE) and Málaga (AGP) to serve the high-end leisure travel market.

The startup was co-founded by Gianni Tronza, who previously held senior executive positions at carriers including Crossair, British Airways, American Airlines, and Etihad, along with Peter Baumgartner, the former Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways.

In a press release announcing the completion of PeakJet's first flight, former Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer Peter Baumgartner stated that private aviation previously offered travelers only two options: buying or chartering an entire jet, or remaining on the ground. Baumgartner noted that the company has now proven a third alternative utilizing technology that the aviation industry has barely tapped into.
