Singapore is holding early-stage discussions on potential involvement in the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), also known as the Tempest programme, Aerospace Global News reported, citing a Janes article.

The talks are at an exploratory stage and no decisions have been made for Singapore to commit, the report stated, quoting an unnamed source close to the matter. Janes noted this is the first known indication Singapore is formally examining potential links to the programme.

The GCAP programme, led by Britain, Japan and Italy, is developing a multirole sixth-generation air superiority fighter optimized for export. The first demonstrator is currently being assembled by BAE Systems, with its first flight expected in 2027.
