The newly opened Western Sydney airport, built at a cost of fourteen billion Australian dollars, officially began operations today as the region’s first curfew‑free major aviation hub.
The inaugural Jetstar flight departed fully booked, signalling the launch of scheduled passenger services from the new facility.
At the same time, freight services were activated, giving the airport round‑the‑clock international logistics capability.
Officials said the airport’s curfew‑free design and combined passenger and cargo operations will boost Sydney’s overall air transport capacity.
The opening ceremony featured the first Jetstar departure and the inaugural cargo flight, underscoring the hub’s dual‑role mission.
