Horizon Aircraft announced that Australia-based startup V Star Powered Lift Aviation has placed an order for up to five Cavorite X7 hybrid electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, with an option for 95 more in the future. The manufacturer has also secured two prior agreements, including a letter of intent with JetSetGo for 50 aircraft plus 50 options, and a leasing plan with Discovery Air Chile for five aircraft.
According to Horizon Aircraft CEO Brandon Robinson, the company has completed a half-scale version and plans to finish a full-scale aircraft in the next six to nine months. The Cavorite X7 uses 12 electric lift fans in the wing for takeoff, transitioning to a gas-turbine engine. It is designed to carry seven people over a range of up to 800 kilometers.
