EgyptAir has announced plans to launch a one-stop service from Cairo to Sydney via Singapore from 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
Sydney Airport (SYD) said Egypt would be the largest unserved African market for Australian travellers; the airline's service would be a first direct link to North Africa for both Singapore and Australia.
EgyptAir chairman and CEO Captain Ahmed Adel said the partnership with Sydney Airport was an important step in growing the airline's network.
The route may be served by the carrier's new Airbus A350 aircraft, and further details on timetable, aircraft type and ticket sales are expected closer to the planned 2027 launch.
