Bombardier announced on September 10, 2026, that the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has cleared the Global 8000 to land at London City Airport (LCY), effective immediately.
The clearance applies only to aircraft registered in jurisdictions whose aviation authority has approved the Global 8000's steep approach supplement. London City is the only UK aerodrome requiring a steep approach capability, with a 5.5-degree glideslope.
Bombardier estimates that access to London City can save passengers 60 to 90 minutes of ground transfer compared with Farnborough or Luton. The manufacturer describes the Global 8000 as the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde, with a top speed of Mach 0.95.
The type is certified by Transport Canada, the US Federal Aviation Administration and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, with certification from other authorities ongoing, Bombardier says.
