The US Army has selected Boeing to advance to Phase 2 of the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition.
According to Boeing, the midrange missile is intended to protect fixed and forward operating bases from cruise missiles, militarized drones, and related aerial threats.
Phase 2 includes detailed design, system development, integration and demonstration work, as well as a competitive capability demonstration. The company has not disclosed the award value or a demonstration date.
Boeing highlighted that its interceptor combines the company’s seeker technology with a compact airframe, a solid rocket motor from Anduril Rocket Motor Systems, and a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA).
