On September 9, 2026, US President Donald Trump’s departure from Joint Base Andrews to Dallas was briefly delayed after an emergency evacuation slide unexpectedly deployed from Air Force One prior to boarding.
The emergency slide on the front right side of the Boeing 747-8 was accidentally triggered by a member of the US Air Force crew during pre-flight checks. Military personnel subsequently inspected the aircraft, deflated the slide, and removed it from the plane.
President Trump waited aboard Marine One during the resolution process before boarding the aircraft, which then departed for Texas without further incident. The president took his first flight on the Qatar-gifted Boeing 747 on July 1, 2026.
