China Airlines announced on September 10 that it will increase its international booking service fee from $30 (approximately NT$944) to $33 (approximately NT$1,039) per ticket, effective September 22. The airline stated that the adjustment reflects industry standards and market conditions.
Airline ticketing is provided through Global Distribution Systems (GDS), with carriers applying booking service fees under a user-pays principle. China Airlines previously raised this fee in March and July.
Other Taiwanese carriers have also updated their fees: Tigerair Taiwan adjusted off-peak fees to NT$350 and peak fees to NT$450 per passenger segment on September 1. EVA Air and Uni Air began charging $33 per ticket in August for itineraries originating outside the Philippines and Hong Kong, while STARLUX Airlines plans to implement a $33 fee on October 7.
