Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) announced that EgyptAir will join its airline network, with the Egyptian flag carrier planning to launch a service connecting Cairo, Singapore and Sydney from 2027.
The route, announced on September 9, 2026, during the El Alamein Air Show in Egypt, is expected to mark the first direct link between Sydney and Cairo, subject to regulatory approvals.
The addition brings Sydney Airport's total to a record 54 airlines, reinforcing its position as Australia's largest international gateway and creating a new air link between Australia and Egypt.
Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton said the service delivers greater choice for passengers and unlocks opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Australia, Egypt and the region. EgyptAir Chairman and CEO Captain Ahmed Abdel Rahman said the partnership marks an important step in expanding the airline's international network.
