A fatal aviation accident occurred south of Brisbane, Australia, on September 7, 2026. A 1979-built Beechcraft A36 Bonanza light aircraft, registered as VH-MPT, departed Archerfield Airport (YBAF) at 10:57 local time. Minutes later, the single-engine piston aircraft crashed onto a rural property in Stockleigh, Logan local government area, triggering a grass fire on the site.

The crash killed both occupants on board, believed to be a 56-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman. Emergency responders declared them dead at the scene. No one on the ground was injured, and no homes were damaged. The grass fire was successfully contained within approximately one hour.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has launched a safety investigation and deployed three investigators from Brisbane to examine the wreckage. A preliminary report is expected to be published in about eight weeks.
