China Airlines has notified freight forwarders that it will raise the fuel surcharge for exported cargo from Taiwan from midnight on September 16, citing international oil price movements.
For long-haul routes to Europe and the Americas, the surcharge will rise to NT$62 per kilogram, an increase of about 6.9%. For short-haul routes in Asia, it will rise to NT$21 per kilogram, up about 5%.
The airline had already raised the long-haul cargo fuel surcharge to NT$58 and short-haul to NT$20 in early September. This further increase reflects persistent pressure from rising jet fuel costs.
China Airlines stated that except for cargo charged at basic freight rates, all other export cargo will be subject to the fuel surcharge based on chargeable weight.
