Dutch flying car developer PAL-V confirmed on September 7, 2026, that it has obtained its European Production Organization Approval (POA) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The developer stated that the approval is a significant step toward bringing its certified FlyDrive mobility solutions to the market. According to PAL-V, it is the first FlyDrive developer within the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector to gain this certification.
Robert Dingemanse, the Chief Executive Officer of PAL-V, stated that obtaining the POA is a major milestone for the company. He noted that the approval confirms the company has built an organization capable of developing, certifying, and manufacturing airworthy products. This development follows other certification milestones, including receiving a "No Technical Objection" statement from EASA in 2025.
PAL-V is headquartered in Raamsdonksveer, Netherlands. In addition to its newly acquired aviation approvals, the company also holds automotive production approvals. According to PAL-V, this dual approval allows the developer to manufacture its combined flight and road vehicles on an industrial scale.
The company expects to begin the first deliveries of its flying car in 2028. PAL-V reported that its current reservation portfolio is already sufficient to cover the first three years of production. This backlog includes a March 2024 order for 100 units of the flying car from Dubai-based aerospace firm Aviterra, which is backed by the owners of executive aviation firm Jetex.
In flight configuration, the PAL-V flying car has a reported operating range of 500 kilometers. The vehicle is also capable of reaching a maximum flight speed of 180 kilometers per hour. The company emphasized that its efforts extend beyond vehicle development to establishing a new category of mobility.
