JetBlue has unveiled "BlueFirst," its first traditional domestic first-class cabin, marking a major product shift for the carrier as it introduces dedicated first-class seating across its broader domestic network. The new cabin will be retrofitted across JetBlue's aircraft fleet that do not feature its flagship lie-flat Mint business class, specifically targeting its Airbus A220, Airbus A320 (ICAO type code A320), and Airbus A321 (ICAO type code A321) narrowbody aircraft.
With Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification already secured, the airline is scheduled to begin its first aircraft modification on September 21, 2026. JetBlue aims to complete a full fleet retrofit by 2028. Flights featuring the new BlueFirst product are scheduled to commence later in 2026, with customer ticket bookings set to open in the fall. The carrier noted that details regarding specific inaugural routes, fares, and initial aircraft types will be released later this year.
The BlueFirst cabin design features recliner seats arranged in a two-by-two configuration spanning two to four rows depending on the aircraft type. The seats offer five inches of recline and up to seven inches of additional legroom compared to JetBlue's main cabin seating. To maximize passenger comfort, the seats incorporate custom-designed T&N Flex foam developed in partnership with mattress manufacturer Tuft & Needle, along with adjustable headrests and high-backed privacy shells.
In terms of inflight technology and amenities, each seat is equipped with a 13.3-inch seatback entertainment screen featuring Bluetooth headphone connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, and a standard 110-volt power outlet. Passengers can utilize seatback screen ordering for onboard food and drinks, including a "Mixologist Mode" for custom beverage orders. On flights covering at least 899 miles, JetBlue will serve bento-style meals, complemented by free access to the airline's high-speed Fly-Fi internet service.
Passengers traveling in the BlueFirst cabin will receive premium ground and airport privileges, including Group 1 priority boarding, dedicated overhead bin space, priority check-in, and access to expedited security lanes at more than 30 airports. The ticket includes two free checked bags with priority baggage delivery services. JetBlue Chief Executive Officer Joanna Geraghty stated that customers are increasingly seeking premium travel experiences, and that BlueFirst offers an elevated product tailored to deliver strong customer value.
