According to Simple Flying, three passengers on an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Newark restrained a 67-year-old traveler after he turned violent during a racist and homophobic tirade in the Domestic First Class cabin. The passenger assaulted two travelers and shouted slurs at a flight attendant before being bound to his seat with zip ties and duct tape. During the struggle, the man bit one of the passengers attempting to hold him down.
Verified records show the incident occurred on September 3, 2026, on American Airlines Flight 618, a Boeing 737-800 flying from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Due to the disturbance, the flight diverted to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), where police arrested the passenger before the flight continued to Newark.
